1. Who is responsible
NONOTS is responsible for the personal data processed through nonots.com and the NONOTS mobile apps. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to wine@nonots.com.
2. What we collect
- Account data: name, email address, securely hashed password, account status and language.
- User content: bottle, shelf or wine-list photos you upload; extracted label information; wines you save; and your “I like it / It’s OK / I don’t like it” reactions.
- Wine DNA: taste preferences and recommendations derived from your saved wines and reactions.
- AI usage records: action type, model used, input and output token counts, estimated processing cost, status, date and monthly allowance use.
- Subscription records: plan, status, billing period and provider identifiers. NONOTS does not store full payment-card details.
- Technical data: security, error and request logs needed to keep the service reliable. Website analytics is used only after the required consent. The mobile apps do not use advertising trackers.
3. Why we use it
We use the data to create and secure your account, recognise wine information, return scan results, enforce monthly AI limits, store your wine history, build Wine DNA, personalise TasteMatch recommendations, provide support, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.
4. AI and external sources
NONOTS asks for your explicit permission before sending personal data to OpenAI. The permission screen names the recipient, data and purpose. You can allow or refuse the following uses separately:
- Photo analysis: the bottle, shop-shelf or restaurant-list image you selected, scan type and interface language are sent to OpenAI to read visible text and identify wine information.
- Live source research: the producer, wine name, vintage and appellation already read from the photo, plus interface language, are sent to OpenAI to find current public producer, regional, market and rating sources. The original photo is not sent again for this step.
Requests include a pseudonymous abuse-prevention identifier rather than the internal account ID and are sent with provider-side response storage disabled. We do not authorise OpenAI or another service provider to use your data for advertising. If you refuse, the related AI action will not run; Learn, account management and previously saved Wine DNA remain available. You can change or withdraw either permission at any time in Profile → Manage AI permissions. Withdrawal stops new transfers but cannot undo processing that already occurred at your request.
Facts visible in your photo, externally sourced facts, community opinion and NONOTS interpretation remain clearly separated. Missing or unverified factual information should be reported as unknown rather than invented.
5. Service providers
We use Cloudflare for hosting, database and image storage; OpenAI for image and language processing after permission; Stripe for web subscription payments; an email-delivery provider for account messages; and Apple or Google when mobile-store purchases are offered in a future app version. We require service providers that receive personal data to provide the same or equivalent protection described here and to process it only for the contracted service.
6. Retention and deletion
Account data, consent choices and saved wine content are kept while your account is active. AI usage metadata is retained for allowance enforcement, cost control, security and operational records. You can delete the account inside the app or from your profile. This removes the account, AI consent records, Wine DNA, saved wines, AI usage records and stored photos, after any active linked web subscription is cancelled. Limited transaction, fraud-prevention or legal records may be retained only where the law requires it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection to processing. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Send a request from the email used for your NONOTS account so we can verify it safely.
8. Age and changes
NONOTS is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is not directed to children. If this policy changes materially, the updated date and notice will be shown here.
